Taiwan Vacation: Tainan Zun (Tseng) Wen Reservoir
I had the pleasure of taking two vacationers out for the day today. They wanted to see the country, so we hopped in the car and cruised to a place in Tainan County called the 曾文水庫 Tseng (Zun) Wen Reservoir.
Joe and Jason
are from Texas and Maryland, and it is their first time in Taiwan. It was interesting to hear their take on things in Taiwan as newcomers to this land. They have only been here about a week and have already been to Ken Ting and tried betelnuts. I usually enjoy treating newcomers to a good binlang and recording their reactions to it but these guys beat me to it and spoiled my fun.
After driving for about an hour we saw a temple that is in the process of being built. It looks like it is going to be another beautiful mountain temple.
We were driving along the rivers edge until we saw a playground.
Joe and Jason convinced me after about 15 minutes of arguing that I should stop and let them play, so I did just that.
I snooped around this place for some photos and managed to get a few interesting ones.
An angel (or alien) in the flower
A pool of water
Some nice foliage
Damn, do these guys ever stop playing around?
After the detour to the playground, we entered the dam. Here are some of the views
At one point, Joe and Jason started arguing over who the better artist was, Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera and it ended in fisticuffs.
The place was very peaceful, and not many people were there visiting. The cost was NT 100 dollars per person and an extra NT 40 dollars for the car. Here are some shots of the water, which ended up making some nice textures, and a super macro shot of a jack fruit.
After touring around this beautiful place for a while and sharing our experiences, we decided to take a walk down to a little strip that juts out into the reservoir.
Somewhere along the way Joe had a moment where he decided to try and become one with nature, and feel the moment.
After finding his peace, we walked around and basked in the glow of this beautiful place
Then it was off to go home. However, no trip to the countryside is complete without arriving at a nonpredetermined intriguing destination
Ain’t nobody here but us chickens
All in all it was a fun day out with these guys. We ended the day with a few Taiwan beers and some of Taiwan’s best and cheapest grub at a local restaurant.

Nice photos! The orchids (flowers in general) are phenomenal there.
Thanks. I had a surprisingly nice day wandering around out there.
