Taiwan Driving: Car crashes and scooter accidents photos
One of the benefits of my carrying around my camera 24/7 is I am ready to snap photos and it only takes me about 15 seconds to get ready (because my camera doesn’t activate very quickly). Anyhow, I have taken some photos of scooter accidents and car crashes that I thought might be interesting to people.

I posted a few photos of a crash a while back that had a car wedged between two trees.
I was with some friends the other night and got some photos of a little van/car that managed to get stuck on the median of the road.
If you look at all of the pictures, maybe you can figure out how it got up there. I can’t. It got hit hard in the drives side door area, and still ended up on the median… The other two sets of shots are of post scooter accidents where people are helping out, cars are driving by, and the accident victims are on the ground waiting for the ambulances.
Makes me wonder once again why so many Taiwanese drive at dusk or at night with their lights off…
Rumor has it that they are saving gas that way. If you have your lights on during the day, many people will say, “Hey, you should turn your lights off” in Chinese. I usually do now and then turn them back on as soon as I am away from them. Sometimes it isn’t worth the trouble to try and explain things.
Well, according to some posters on my blog, there is little scientific validity to lights off = saving gas. That is to say, you’d have to drive about 1 year with the lights off to save 1 tank of gas. Something like that. Wish we had some sort of pithy saying to share this with Taiwanese passer-bys on the road. Sigh…
