Chen Shui Bian has proposed changing the name of Chiang Kai-shek International Airport to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. Aside from all of the obvious political BS this will kick up, it is a great idea. I remember thinking I was in Taipei when I arrived. I would propose calling it Taiwan Nan Kan (TANK) International Airport. Hopefully this name change would instill fear into the hearts of all those that just won’t let Taiwan be Taiwan.

On a side note, a friend recently came back from Canada and happened to be on the same flight as Kevin Garnett, the NBA basketball player. My friend was wearing a sports jersey, and when he walked into the lobby of the airport, it was full of fans and to the astonishment of my friend, the lobby erupted into applause and cheered for him. He was even interviewed by the press because he was a foreigner on the flight and could have been associated with Garnett.
