Pre-Dragon Boat 2006

This is an early warning for next Wednesday, May 31st. It is Dragon Boat Day, and as such you should be getting the day off. What will you do with your time? Will you go see the races? Will you stay home and sleep? Will you learn how to make Zong Zi (rice dumplings)? It is interesting to note that, acccording to this news article, there are about 365,000 foreign wives (including mainland Chinese) living in Taiwan. There was a class offered to teach them how to make the traditional food for their husbands. The article also states that 13.25% of the Taiwanese children born in Taiwan now are born to foreign brides.

Wow, I guess all this banter about Taiwanese woman wanting to stay single longer may be true. But what is the problem? Are Taiwanese men going for foreign wives because the Taiwanese woman are not interested, or are the Taiwanese men not interested in the Taiwanese women so they are looking overseas for wives to start families with?
