  4. Hey, anyone know where I can go out for good turkey this Thursday in Taipei? It’ll be Thanksgiving Day, also known as Turkey Day for those who grew up in the States.

  5. I would think Costco would be a good place to get a Turkey.

  6. your forum would do better if it wasnt buried under the list of links on the lefthand page with no indication of it being any different from just another blog posting… in fact your navigation links could use an overhaul in general. good luck..

  7. Thanks for the input. I agree about the forum. I haven’t fully promoted it yet because the bands need time to fill it and work it into something that is a good community resource. I agree with you about the nav links. I will try to make something easier to use…

  8. It looks great. Good job.

  9. Great idea….maybe also an idea possibly for musicians and bands just forming to find other players. We are looking for another guitar player and maybe others to join our little group, but have found it just impossible to locate anyone.
    Either way a most excellent idea….bravo !!!

  10. Thank you everyone. I guess the next step is for you to sign up and start using it!

  11. @ Kim

Where are you located? and what style(s) of music are you creating? You can add a topic to the music chat forum and start a looking for musicians thread. I think eventually there should be music stores listed somewhere to, so musicians can find the equipment they need too. No doubt in my mind Taipei is the mecca for music stores, but I have a feeling there may be a few gems scattered throughout the island. There is no shortage of music shops in Tainan, but they all are lacking in serious equipment.

  12. I’m looking for any English speaking people in Ilan/Yilan who are over 35. Are there any?

  35. Hi, i’m studying chinese in taipei..just arrived here last week..is there anybody here learning chinese too? how long have you take it until fluent speaking n reading?

  36. Fluent? Depends on how fluent you want to be and how hard you work at it. I would say a minimum of 3 years for fluency with a lot of hard work. To speak a bit.. Maybe 6 months to string several pertinent sentences together.

  59. Hello

When I try to burn a data CDRW on iTunes it starts making this weird clicking sound and doesn’t end up burning the DVDRW.
I tried using the regular drag and drop onto the CD burning folder itself and it still makes this strange clicking noise.
I’m using noname DVDRW and they worked fine when I first got them then all of a sudden it’s doing this.
I’ve tried another brand of disk (Maxell) and it’s still making the same noise…

    Recommendations anyone?

  60. Hello.
I am interested in 2012, notably – the Mayan prophecy about the end of the world 12.21.2012. Many people talk about it now, besides, the movie comes out soon. I’m interested to read something about it. Disclosing this theme.
    Advise me some articles please.

    Thank you

  61. Just wanted to say hello all. This is my first post.

I would like to learn some good information here.

  62. Welcome,

Are you in Taiwan now? What city?

I have lived in YiLan for a little over a year now and have found very few people who speak any English…usually just the doctors and some religion pushers. Earlier I lived in Taipei for 6 years but it has been very lonely here. Most of the people over 55 or 60 only speak Taiwanese. Only the younger folks speak Manderin.

The people here are gung-ho for walking. It’s not my favorite thing. I’ve been teaching English for over 20 years and love to see my students develop. I only teach adults and advanced youngsters 12 and over. The adults are there because they want to be. Some of the kids love it and do well. Others are there because their parents want them to be. They never do as well. Interest is all important.

    Best wishes,

    Chater

Send me a question if you want. I’ll try to get an answer for you.

  63. Chater, I’d love to post articles form you about living out there and what your views about Taiwan are. Let me know if you are interested. email me at therealtaiwan [at ] gmail.com

  64. I Love Nigger King!

  66. Hi everybody, ni hao?
I am a 28-yrs old musician/songwriter from Indonesia (of Chinese ethnicity).
and I’ve been seriously thinking and planning to at least try my luck and talents there in Taiwan.
do you think is there a chance for me?
FYI, I play piano (classical), and also self-learned keyboard, guitar, bass, vocal, etc. And I also compose/write songs.
Here are some examples of my music compositions: http://nikiwonoto.com/ =)

Many people (even including professional ones) have suggested me that if I do have a chance, that I should try to expand my music overseas. and since I’m of Chinese ethnicity, I am thinking of Taiwan too.
Oh and I don’t mean to boast or anything, but many have said that I have such a “baby-face” that it would reallyy be a pity if I don’t really try to chase my dreams in music, especially for Asia market!
Last thing I really want is just to live a ‘normal life’ continuing my family-business here in Indonesia…I want to experience MORE life first!

So please, anybody who have info, advice, or opinion, or just want to befriend with me to talk more about this, you can just email me rightaway at nikiwonoto@gmail.com
I am also really interested in making new friends, especially from overseas!^^

  68. Coloring pages are an really very enjoyable activity for kids, especially since they are very highly perceptive to color at their tender age, and would love to experiment on the topic, going further than they have been taught. It is important to encourage this interest, for it will help them to become a lot more creative and inquisitive, and learn better.

  69. Hello everyone! I don’t know if this forum works or not, but I try! I like Taiwan so much! And I’d like to work there. I’m about to graduate in Fashion design so I’d like to find some fashion internship in Taiwan. Can anyone help me?
