Living in Taiwan Forum: Music and Living From Taiwan

Hello to everyone. Thanks for stopping by this site. I’d like to announce that I have started a forum for musicians in Taiwan, music lovers from all over the world, and for people that want to have good conversations about life and share their experiences (especially the good stuff about Taiwan). I have been sharing for a long time now and it is my hope that my initial view of this blog becoming a community blog will come to light. I do post about anything Taiwan, and that may turn some people off. Fair enough, but I do invite you to share your ideas…

The name is simple, it is the Living in Taiwan Forum. You will need to log in to post and it is easy to do. If you have any questions about using the forum you can email me at therealtaiwan [at] gmail.com or leave a message in the FAQ section of the forum. The forum is in its infancy now so if you’d like to be a moderator or just have some advice, please let me know.

Please let the bands know how you feel about their music and help them build up their forums by adding photos and comments. One of the main reasons for building this site was to promote music in Taiwan, and support the people that come out here and use their free time to hone their creative skills. It is my sincere hope that we can build a music scene here that is something to be proud of, and I feel it has begun. Just take a look at how many bands (especially foreign bands) that are in the forum already! Feel free to chat about anything in the general chat area.

I know there is a growing community of people that stop by this site from time to time to see what kind of bizarre things I have been up to, so please stop by and add something positive to the mix. Several people are already using the forum, so your post won’t be abandoned for eternity. It is a little slow right now, but I think it will be an interesting, REAL place to be. As of now, you can also add events to the calendar so please share cool events with others and help advertise them for yourself… Most normal forum rules apply, and I hope everyone can debate and share in a productive way. Happy forumming! Hope to see you there…

  1. Johnny ,
I’m a classical guitar instructor of MECA in Houston , Texas. Recently,I’ve become a member of the board, so no more teaching and lots of free time .
I’m interested in teaching and performing classical guitar in Taiwan , any advices of yours would be much appreciated .
    Let us be friends .
    Regards,
    Binh

  2. If you have a 4 year degree and speak English as a first language, get a visa and go to Taiwan and then get a job teaching English. You probably won’t have to work that much and can find avenues to teach guitar and play shows and in some bands. This way you’ll have some cash and be legal while you pursue your passion. Taiwan is GREAT because you won’t need to work 40 hours a week. In some cases you can get by with less than 20. I hope this helps.

  3. Johnny,
I’m a Vietnamse so English is not my first language. I do have a certificate of proficiency in English, University of Michigan. Does that help ?
    Thanks for your time .
