Fronds and Traffic Don’t Mix

I took these pics a while back, but after reading Michael Turton’s blog
The View From Taiwan (this is one of the few blogs I read on a frequent basis. Check it out if you haven’t already), it sparked me to post the whole series. Granted, you won’t encounter too many times where you are being held up in traffic by a man carting palm tree fronds around on his rigged up bicycle, but it is just one of the many random and damning experiences you may run into at any given time while driving in Taiwan. Check out how this man forces everyone to go into the oncoming traffic lane.

I saw this guy coming, turned around and waited for him on the side of the street with my camera because I knew it that street was going to be turned into mayhem.

This is very near Cheng Gong University in Tainan, and when the traffic started flowing the other way it got really interesting.

  1. LOL. That’s classic. Tainan traffic sucks! I’ve wanted to do a video ride thing there, but haven’t had the chance yet. If you did that would be great.

Thanks for the kind words about the blog!
